THE DESIGNERS
Taught
at her Lancashire grandmother's knee, Jean
Moss (pictured with Portmeirion lion) has been
creating beautiful sweaters for 25 years. Believing that couture
should be available to all, she has taught design and technique
workshops extensively in North America and Europe. Author of several
books, including Sculptured Knits (XRX), a rich collection
of sweaters and homewares inspired by the decorative arts of the
20th century. As a passionate gardener with a professional training
in garden design, Jean is uniquely placed to explore the crossovers
between knitting and gardens.

Sasha
Kagan, a doyenne of British hand-knitting, her talents
recently recognised by a recent exhibition at the prestigious
Victoria & Albert Museum, is never bashful of pushing students
to knit with exuberantly coloured and textured yarns, encouraging
the designer in us all. Sasha lives and works in beautiful Mid-Wales,
from where she has taken the inspiration for her latest book Sasha
Kagan's Country Inspiration (Taunton Press).

From
her busy garden shed in Hampshire, world-renowned designer Susan
Duckworth directs her team of loyal knitters eager
for the challenges posed by her intricate work. She develops each
design slowly and organically, using the vibrant and subtle hues
of her own country garden to inspire her unique sweaters. Her
approach will appeal to knitters wishing to explore colour and
techniques in intarsia knitting.

Debbie
Abrahams has a passion for homewares and accessories
that combine texture and bold colour with beads, buttons and embroidery.
She has designed her own range of hand-made ceramic buttons that
are used in her forthcoming book of throw designs. Her workshop
will appeal to people who wish to improve their handknitting techniques.

mastery of traditional knitting techniques has enabled Alice
Starmore to push the boundaries of knitting in new
and exciting directions. The spare and rugged beauty of her native
island home in the Outer Hebrides provides the backdrop of inspiration
for her work. A prolific author of eighteen books, Alice is a
gifted teacher whose aim is to provide knitters with beautiful
yarns and designs worthy of their skills.

Knight, textile designer and fashion design consultant,
whose trademark has been the traditional with a twist. Coming
into knitting via fine art training, she is highly regarded in
her field and works for many international companies designing
ready-to-wear ranges. Author of Comforts of Home (Martingale),
her latest book is Simple Knits for Cherished Babies (Collins
& Brown).
